Getting up to go to the bathroom more than once at night is not normal. If you are also going frequently during the day this may mean that you have a bladder infection. See your doctor to have your urine tested.
Some women retain fluid during the day and get rid of the extra fluid at night. It may help to use the following strategies:
- Stop drinking after the evening meal.
- Avoid any caffeinated drinks in the evening.
- Empty your bladder before you go to bed.
- Elevating your legs in the evening may help your body to get rid of the fluid before bedtime.
- Your doctor may prescribe a medication which will either keep your bladder relaxed or reduce the amount of urine you produce. This may help to reduce the number of times you pee at night.
